HISTORY IN LA PALMA: VOTERS ELECT TWO ASIAN AMERICANS TO CITY COUNCIL. COUNCILMAN HENRY CHAROEN reelcted and NEWCOMER STEVE HWANGBO win HOT CAMPAIGN!!!

La Palma, CA

It was another historical night for the residents of La Palma. They will have two Asian Americans on its City Council for the first time ever.

Challenger Steve Hwangbo will join incumbent winner Henry Charoen on the new La Palma City Council.

This is Hwangbo's second attempt at winning a seat on the city council here and on

Tuesday all of his hard work paid off with a nice election victory.

He led after the Absentee ballots were announced and ended up in second spot. La Palma now has a population majority of over 40% Asian-American.  Charoen is also Asian American.
