From the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department
Patrol deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station took nearly 20 pounds of marijuana off of the streets just before 2:00 a.m. this morning.
The deputies were patrolling in the 31000 block of Castaic Road, Castaic in unincorporated Los Angeles County when they detained two males at the Days Inn Hotel.
Through their investigation the deputies determined that the suspect, Rickey Evanoff, MW/30, of Carson City Nevada was in possession of an estimated 20 pounds of marijuana. Evanoff was arrested on felony charges of Possession of Marijuana for Sales, Transportation of Marijuana, and a misdemeanor charge of Possession of More than an Ounce of Marijuana.
The arrest of Evanoff is yet another by Santa Clarita Deputies in their continuing aggressive efforts to keep drugs off of our streets and out of the hands of our youth. This incident brings the total number of reported drug related incidents and arrests to nearly 1,200 in the Santa Clarita Valley for 2010.
Evanoff was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail pending future court proceedings.
