I love CNN, and I love their annual "Heroes of the Year Awards" program that shows off the best of man and womankind.    Today, the finalists for the 2010 prizes were announced, and the list includes a real amazing woman from Los Angeles.

Nominated today is Susan Burton, the Founder and Executive Director of "A New Way of Life Reentry Project" that she created here in South Central LA.

A New Way of Life Reentry Project provides housing and support services to formerly incarcerated women in South Central Los Angeles, facilitating a successful transition back to community life.

Since its  founding in 1998, they have helped transform the lives of more than 500 women and their children.
As a community advocate, Sue Burton has lead "A New Way Of Life" to help restore the civil rights of people with criminal records to housing, employment, public benefits, and the right to vote.  Susan Burton has helped more than 400 female ex-convicts get back on their feet. Her nonprofit provides sober housing and other support services to formerly incarcerated women in California.

Sue, I am PULLING for YOU and HOPE you win, because you already are a "HERO" to many here in our community!
