SEPULVEDA PASS AREA OF LOS ANGELES--

Here we go.

Another fire has broken out next to a famed Los Angeles freeway this afternoon, the second one in less than 2 hours.

The latest blaze is happening in the Sepulveda Pass on westside of Los Angeles off the 405 Freeway, and this fire has been given the name "The Mountain Gate Fire."

Here are the facts:
  •  Fire is at 10 acres and is a brush fire is burning near the Getty Center.
  • "Mountain Gate Fire" was reported at 5:01p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
  • Fire is currently burning on the northbound side of the 405 freeway at Getty Center Drive.
  • One structure is threatened.
  • Water-dropping helicopters along with 131 firefighters are on the scene.
  • The California Highway Patrol (CHP) had closed down the numbers 4 and 5 lanes along the northbound side of the freeway for a short period.
  • The lanes of the freeway (as of 6:30 p.m.) are now opened.
An earlier brush fire broke out along a freeway near the Unicorporated section of the Whittier Hills earlier this afternoon.  That fire burned around 5 acres.  (See post below).
Be safe.  This HOT DRY weather is a cause for concern for many of us.
