WEST WHITTIER - A local neighborhood in a local west Whittier community has become a horrific scene beyond words that resulted in the dead of one man, the destruction of his home, and his wife being stabbed numerous times in the face and neck.
Here is what is being reported on local news services:
An 70-year-old man who lives on the 8300 block of Vanport Avenue in West Whittier is dead this afternoon following a domestic ruckus between him and his wife.
The man, who's name has not been released (but as soon as it is, I will be updating this story) had several "emotional issues" according to neighbors, began stabbing his wife outside of the home shortly after 12:30 p.m. today.
When law enforcement arrived, they found him on top of his 71-year-old wife and allegedly stabbing her in the face and neck.
With the quick actions of a few neighbors, the suspect was hit with a long object, and his wife (the victim) then ran to seek assistance.
The man the fled into his house and a fire broke out.
Firefighters stayed away from the house due to the possibility of the man could have had additional weapons and for other safety concerns. When the fire was out, officials went inside to find the man dead.
His wife had minor injuries and was taken to a local Whittier area hospital.
