A wild fire has broke out this afternoon in the dry brush near Palmdale. So far more than 125 acres have burned and homes are being evacuated. One fire fighter has been injured, according to media reports.
It is being called the "Lago Vista Fire" and is located in the famed Angeles National Forest here in Los Angeles County.
The rural community of Valyermo, near Palmdale and Wrightwood are all in "danger" tonight due to this new blaze. The conditions are hot and dry and the "sun downer" winds are beginning to kick up in this part of Southern California.
Other details:
- Big Pines Highway and Lago Vista Road area is the focal point of fire.
- One Fire fighter has been injured and flown to a local Antelope Valley hospital. His name and injuries have not been released.
