South Bay, CA --
A neighborhood in the South Bay is still in shock of a vicious and unspeakable murder, and they want justice....
A Lawndale man suspected of attacking two of his roommates with a machete, killing one and seriously injuring the other, was charged on Friday with murder and attempted murder, the District Attorney’s office announced.
Carlos Arias Donis, 25 (dob 11-13-84), was arraigned and charged with one count each of murder, attempted murder and aggravated mayhem with the special allegations, use of a deadly weapon and inflicting great bodily injury.
He was being held on $3.05 million bail.
Donis allegedly attacked two of his roommates living in a home in the 15300 block of Larch Avenue about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday.
One victim, Fernando Garcia, 23, died at the scene, authorities said. A second victim, 22, remains in critical condition with injuries to his head.
Donis, who works as a gardener, fled the scene and was arrested a short time later by sheriff’s deputies.
If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
