SANTA FE SPRINGS -

It is time to "play some football" over at the famed St. Paul High School campus...this new week of this new school year....

On Friday almost the entire SPHS varsity football coaching staff was reinstated after a school-imposed, eight-day suspension.   The brew ha ha was  prompted by a joint investigation by the school and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles over an alleged "hazing incident."

In a letter mailed to parents Friday, Principal Kate Aceves wrote that head coach Marijon Ancich and assistant coaches Visko Ancich, Rich Avi a Jr., Lou Cabral, Oliver Cepeida, Rich Estrella and Anthony Wilson were reinstated.

This situation has divided many involved on this campus and in the community.  Do you think that this situation is now "behind us?"  Hit my comment section and sound off.

I don't know any of those other guys, but I sure remember Coach Ancich. I wasn't a jock, but he was my senior-year biology teacher and many of the football team were in our class. The Coach was a first-rate teacher who could demand excellence while still keeping a well developed sense of humor. What I remember most about him was that it was obvious that he genuinely LIKED us -- all of us. That he could have been suspended for even one minute on the strength of an unproven allegation simply testifies to the unreasoning and reactionary tendencies of the administration in this case. Go Swordsmen!
