A Floridian with a passion for birds and wildlife gets creative with his "social media" campaign this Labor Day Weekend!

I love creative people with a BIG heart and a big idea.

Take my pal Bill Shenk down in the great state of Florida.

He has come up with a great on line promo that is actually going to result in saving the lives of birds and wildlife.

Here is what he is doing....and I wanted to post this for him/

Destination Powersports’ new owner Bill Shenk is running a charity drive to benefit the International Bird Rescue Research Center.

For every Facebook user that fans the Destination Powersports Facebook pages, Shenk will donate $1 to the IBRRC with the hopes to reach 500 fans.

Shenk chose the IBRRC because the organization is dedicated to saving aquatic birds
whether they are caught in oil, trapped in fishing line, or otherwise injured and displaced from their natural habitat.

“The gulf coast marine life needs our help now more than ever,” Shenk said. “Working right on the coast got me to thinking how I could lend a helping hand and get the word out. Helping marine life and spreading the word through social media came to mind immediately.”

Shenk uses his Facebook pages to entertain, inform, and educate people all at the same time by keeping readers in the loop with everything in the powersports world.

One tool Shenk uses is his www.destination-adrenaline.com blog, which he posts blog entries across his Facebook and Twitter sites. “I love getting new fans and I value each one I get.

The more I have, the more contests, giveaways, charity drives I can have, too.” Shenk said. Shenk purchased Destination Powersports (then Florida Motorsports) in Punta Gorda, FL, in July 2009. When he took over ownership, he was met with the challenge of changing the dealership’s operations and turn around the lower reputation that the dealership was experiencing. He started with naming the dealership Destination Powersports, and then assembled a new sales team with a new attitude.

The dealership posted its first profit in May 2010, and the future is looking bright. “The marketplace in Southwest Florida is actually softer than it was last year,” Shenk said. “So I’m happy about our performance. We still have a long way to go, and I think reaching out to the community through social media channels is the key to continued growth. Our customers have opinions and we want to know what they are. Facebook, Twitter, etc., gives them a voice and we are listening.”

The IBRRC charity drive starts now through 9/3/10 with the goal of 500 fans with $500 donated by the drive’s end. For more information, please visit www.destination-adrenaline.com
