LOS ANGELES – The murder case against Alberd Tersargsyan has taken on additional charges and more twists and turns.
I have been following this case since it first broke....more than 2 years ago. I use to live a few blocks from where these murders took place several years ago.
This case has angered many in this tight knit community, and I hope JUSTICE is SERVED!
The defendant charged earlier with the March 26 slaying of a mother in Hollywood was charged today with ALSO killing her husband and 8-year-old daughter in 2008 and killing another woman earlier this year. Arraignment on the three new counts of murder was put over until Aug. 13.
Deputy District Attorney Eric Harmon with the Major Crimes Division is prosecuting the case.
BACKGROUND:
If you recall, Tersargsyan was charged with the Dec. 11, 2008, murders of Khachik Safaryan and his daughter, Lusine Safaryan in Hollywood. The complaint, case No. BA370472, also charges him with the March 11 murder of Julie Kates, a female acquaintance.
The complaint alleges the special circumstances of lying in wait and multiple murders, making this a potential death penalty case.Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty. He is being held without bail.
Tersargsyan was charged in April with fatally shooting Karine Hakobyan, 38, while she was in her car. Hakobyan had just returned home about 8 p.m. on March 26 and parked her car near her apartment on Lexington Avenue in Hollywood. Hakobyan’s husband and 8-year-old daughter were both shot in the head. Kates, who is unrelated to the Safaryan family, also was shot in the head.
