HACIENDA HEIGHTS -- The Los Angeles Lakers aren't the only thing on fire tonight here in Southern California, so is an area of Hacienda Heights.

More than 100 firefighters are now battling a brush fire that for a while tonight briefly threatened homes and forced evacuations north of Colima Road.

The blaze was burning in dry bush in the steep hillsides near Halliburton Road.

About a dozen residents in six homes were evacuated and firefighter are working to get an upper hand on the dry brush near the residences.

According to reports from the scene:  Four camp crews are trying to cut breaks along the flanks of the blaze and three water-dropping helicopters are overhead.

The blaze was reported shortly before 6 p.m. and quickly spread from 3 acres to just under 10 acres.
