Fontana, CA
More than $2 million worth of home grown marijuana was seized from a Fontana home on Friday and it has direct ties to several local Asian Street Gangs here in the Los Angeles County Area.
Operation Safe Streets - the Asian Gang Team of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant at a residence on the 5900 block of Wilshire Drive, Fontana on Friday and arrested at least one male adult suspect in what is being called a "major pot cultivation operation."
This investigation stemmed from information received from an anonymous informant that a male Asian adult who resides in the San Gabriel Valley area, was involved in the cultivation of marijuana.
After a three month investigation, investigators on Friday served a search warrant and entry was made into a 4-bedroom home in a quiet, well groomed neighborhood in Fontana.
Deputies found suspect Lanson Quin and detained him. A further search of the home revealed overwhelming evidence of marijuana cultivation including special lighting and hydroponic (watering systems) equipment throughout the home. About 1,800 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $2 million were recovered.
Investigators were at the residence late into the day collecting evidence and processing the scene.
Quin was arrested and booked at Industry Sheriff’s Station for felony cultivation of marijuana. "The cultivation of marijuana is illegal and we will enforce the law to prevent these drugs from getting into the hands of children and adults," said Sheriff’s Captain Mike Parker.
Bail has not yet been set,
