Hawaiian Gardens. CA:

If you drink and drive in Hawaiian Gardens tonight (Friday) or are driving without a valid California Driver's License and Proof of Insurance, consider this your warning.  If you are driving buzzed tonight, you will probably end up in handcuffs.

Personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Risk Management Bureau will be conducting a DUI/CDL Checkpoint on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 6 PM until approximately 2 AM will be conducted in the City of Hawaiian Gardens.

The actual loaction is not being annouced, only that it will be within the Hawaiian Gardens city limits. This is in an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes.

DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving.

All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. This DUI/CDL checkpoint is an effort to reduce those tragedies, as well as insuring drivers posses a valid driver’s license.

A major component of these checkpoints is to increase awareness of the dangers or impaired driving and to encourage sober designated drivers.
