(Long Beach, CA)

It has been 174 days since popular teenager Melody Ross from Long Beach Wilson High School was murdered after she attended here school annual Homecoming Football Game.

Long Beach Police Department have arrested two high-school students for witness intimidation/tampering in the much publicized murder case that killed Ross, 16, and injured two others in the crowd.

The female suspects, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, are both Long Beach residents and students of the school. They were taken into custody without incident on the school grounds on Friday.  Both of the girls had threatened more than one witness involved in the case and both are in deep trouble tonight.

The murder case is being tried as a capital murder case, and anyone found guilty of witness intimidation in a capital murder case can face the same maximum penalty as the suspects being tried for the murder itself, which is life in prison.

The names of these two minors who were arrested have not been released due to their ages.  I have covered this case since it first happened.

More details to follow.....

Anyone with any information regarding this or additional witness intimidation in this case is urged to call Long Beach Police Department Homicide Detectives Scott Lasch or Malcolm Evans at (562) 570-7244.
