The next 6 days is going to be amazing here in our part of the world.

First, we have a great election in Pico Rivera on Tuesday for an open city council seat.  I hope everyone votes, and to support E.A. "Pete" Ramirez with your ONE PRECIOUS vote in this important election.  Good luck Pete, I wish you the very best!

Second, we have an election in Long Beach on Tuesday for several city council seats, the Mayor's office, city attorney, prosecutor, auditor, and for school and college board seats.

We also have an election in other area cities, so make sure to vote if you have an election on Tuesday.

(Good luck to Councilman Robert Garcia in Long Beach on his reelection!)

Next we have Race Week here in Long Beach and the arrivial of  "Lucha VaVOOM"  that will be bringing the action-packed, bizarre world of the 1960s Mexican Lucha Cinema to the 36th Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on Friday, April 16.

The all-ages show begins at 8:30 p.m. in the Long Beach Convention Center Grand Ballroom, a standing room only performance, immediately following the Tecate Light Fiesta Friday concert on the Convention Center outdoor stage. Tickets to Lucha VaVOOM are $20 for race ticket holders ($30 without a race ticket) and be ordered by calling toll-free (888) 82-SPEED.

A non-stop, high-energy action show featuring Mexican masked wrestlers performing acrobatic feats while battling “evil luchadores,” Lucha VaVOOM includes between-matches entertainment highlighted by hand-picked burlesque acts, aerial performers and a variety of other colorful performance artists.

Lucha VaVOOM began in 2003 as a one-time event, has since gone on to play Los Angeles’ Mayan Theater three times a year and has performed to rave reviews in Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto and Amsterdam.

In 2005, Lucha VaVOOM was part of the first HBO Las Vegas Comedy Festival, which also featured Jon Stewart, Lewis Black and Dave Chappelle.

Tickets for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, featuring six races including the IZOD IndyCar Series, start at $25. Tickets can be purchased from the Grand Prix ticket office by calling toll-free at (888) 82-SPEED, Ticketmaster or by visiting www.gplb.com. Children 12 and under admitted FREE.
