(From The OC):
I have to post this amazing, touching story that one of my readers sent me this very early morning (sleepy) from Samatha Gowen, the publisher of the popular PET TALES column in the OC REGISTER.

Gowan tells the story of a baker in Virginia that has fallen in love with our local German Shepard "Courage" that was rescued last week by animal control officers in Bellflower and her owner, Kim Nizato was arrested on animal cruelty charges.  The 3-year-old German shepherd was taken by a Good Samaritan to an local clinic on April 7 and was near death from starvation.  Courage had been tied to a pole for six months and was near death. Nizato is out of jail, and has been charged with one count of felony animal cruelty and one misdemeanor count of failing to provide care. She will be in Bellflower Superior Court on May 10th.

So, what's in the "Courage Cupcake?"  Just about everything great im life, as far as I am concerned!
Milk chocolate, filled with homemade caramel and crushed peanuts, and topped with two layers of ganache, caramel and more peanuts.  That will put pounds on anyone...including our "Courage!"

Thanks OC Register for this great story!

A baker with a passion for giving and a soft spot for animals has created a special cupcake in honor of Courage, a dog left to starve in Bellflower.

There’s just one itsy-bitsy catch. Nefertiti Angelini bakes her organic goods in Reston, Va., some 2,600 miles from Orange County.

The Cupcake Ladi has a big heart and despite the distance, she decided her gourmet treats could help raise awareness and money in her city for German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County, the nonprofit that came to the dog’s rescue April 7 in Orange County.

When Angelini’s husband asked where GSROC was located, Angelini told him, “They’re in O.C., where the housewives are.” Angelini sells her cupcakes through restaurants and caterers in the Northern Virginia area. She is a staff of one and bakes 1,700 mini-cakes every week.
