Holy CALAMARI BATMAN! Our BEACHES are being invaded by Giant Squid...like hundreds of thousands of them off Huntington, Newport and Seal beaches

Blog by Randy Economy:

Have you seen this invasion of jumbo squid that has hit the shores of Orange County these past couple of days?

This is crazy, but our local fishermen and fisherbabes are flocking to the seaside to get in on the action.

It’s being reported that the monster sized squid, just started "showing up" this past Thursday and haven’t stopped arriving almost a week later.  They are also invading the shoreline up in Northern California as well.

Some of these squid weigh  up to 60 pounds and are up 6 feet long.  The creepy crawlers are nocturnal, usually spending the daytime close to the ground and then rising to the surface at night. So, if you are trying to find these slippery guys, you gotta hit the beach in the dead of night.

So far it’s been estimated that nearly 15,000 giant squid have been caught in the past week around our shoreline, and most commercial fishing boats are bringing in as many as 500 every two hours.

So, the mystery continues.   Break out the tarter sauce and the batter, and enjoy this moment. Calamari for the HOUSE!
