District Attorney Steve Cooley holds off on filing criminal charges on ousted Pico Rivera Mayor Ronald Beilke, Whittier Daily News is reporting. Investigation is still ongoing

Former Pico Rivera Mayor Ron Beilke, who has been the center of a criminal probe from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office will not be facing charges, at least not at this time, and this case may not be over.

Prosecutors held off Tuesday on filing criminal charges against Beilke for allegations of enriching himself on the public dole when he served as a Member of the Pico Rivera City Council from 2005 to 2009.

That doesn't mean Beilke is off the hook, The case against him is not offiically closed by County law enforcement officials.

The investigation includes his votes for street improvements on Rosemead Boulevard that allegedly benefited his Wienerschnitzel restaurant on the corner of Rosemead and Washington boulevards, according to Dave Demerjian, head of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office Public Integrity Unit.

Demerjian's unit is also looking into an allegation Beilke handled absentee ballots following the 2007 municipal election. ,

Demerjian declined to comment on the case Tuesday with the Whittier Daily News and other news outlets. To see the story visit here:  http://www.whittierdailynews.com/news/ci_14320077

Resident Raul Murga, who filed the complaints against Beilke, said he believes prosecutors will bring charges.

He called Beilke's vote on Rosemead Boulevard a cut-and-dry violation of conflict-of-interest laws.

"It was voted upon and it directly affected his business, that's an open and shut case," Murga said. "I think that's why (the DA's Office) can't back down. There's proof, there's documents, and these things are being handed to them on a silver platter."

State law prohibits officials from voting on matters where they would benefit from the outcome of the vote, yeah like THAT really works well. LMAO.
