UPDATE on Violent Cerritos Car Crash: Victim killed was Santos Romero Marquez 38, of Whittier

CERRITOS:

We now know the name of the individual who died at the awful accident that occured here on the Eastside of Cerritos early Tuesday morning, Jan. 5th.

Firefighters responded to a two-car accident where one person was killed and another was taken to a hospital at 7:30 a.m.

The victim killed is Santos Romero Marquez, 38 of nearby Whittier. The other's name has not be released.

Los Angeles County Firefighters responded to the scene at Carmenita Road and 183rd Street.

The front end of one of the vehicles appeared to be completely disintegrated. One person was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. See today's front page of the Los Cerritos Community News for a photo of the accident.

Marquez was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters had to use their equipment to remove him from the wreckage.
