UPDATE ON DON BOSCO TECH HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL STABBING: Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department issues official information on attack. (See link below).

(Rosemead) The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has posted an "official" media statement regarding the stabbing of popular Don Bosco Tech Catholic High School Principal Gary Catalano that occured last Friday.

Good news is that Mr. Catalano is doing much better and is recovering from this awful incident and is expected to make a full recovery.

Here is a summary of the report:

January 15, 2010 TIME 1630 HOURS
TEMPLE STATION DEPUTIES ARRIVED AT THE LOCATION, A LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL, IN RESPONSE  TO A STABBING CALL.


DEPUTIES LEARNED THAT VICTIM CATALANO, THE PRINCIPAL OF THE SCHOOL, WAS IN A MEETING IN HIS OFFICE WITH THE SUBJECT, MH/16, WHO WAS A STUDENT AT THE SCHOOL. THE SUBJECT TOOK OUT A POCKET KNIFE AND STABBED VICTIM CATALANO IN THE LOWER BACK. THE SUBJECT THEN RAN OUT OF THE BUILDING.


THE SUBJECT WAS APPREHENDED ONE BLOCK FROM THE LOCATION AND HELD BY SCHOOL SECURITY UNTIL THE ARRIVAL OF SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES. A POCKET KNIFE WAS FOUND ON THE SUBJECT.


THE SUBJECT WAS TAKEN TO TEMPLE STATION WERE HE IS BEING DETAINED AWAITING  TRANSPORT TO A JUVENILE FACILITY..


THE VICTIM WAS TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL AND LISTED IN STABLE CONDITION.
