Murder of Bobby Salcedo: Arrangements still being made to bring slain El Monte School Board Member's remains home from Mexico; Funeral Services are Pending -- KCAL/KCBS News Reports

Here is an Update on the tragic murder of El Monte School Board Member Bobby Salcedo from Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 at 4:35 p.m.

(Los Angeles, CA)
KCBS 2 and KCAL 9 News here in Los Angeles are reporting this afternoon that Betzy Salcedo, the wife of the El Monte school board member abducted and killed in her Mexican hometown on New Years Eve says they knew traveling south of the border came with risks.

Mrs. Salcedo says over the years she's watched as the northern city of Gomez Palacio became more violent. Still, she says "you never think this kind of thing can happen . . . to innocent people."

Augustin Roberto "Bobby" Salcedo was found dead Thursday, a day after being abducted by gunman along with five other men. All six were shot to death. More than 140 shell casings were found at the scene of the murder according to Mexican law enforcement officials.

Arrangements are being made to repatriate Salcedo's body to the United States from Mexico, and funeral/memorial services have not been annouced.

The 33-year-old was an assistant principal and a two-term school board member in El Monte.
