Follow the Money: Green Candidate Cindy Yen Chen hides her "toxic" record, fines, and income!

CLICK ON DOCUMENTS TO ENLARGE!
Here are two important documents that every Voter in Cerritos needs to see before they cast their precious vote in next Tuesday's Cerritos City Council Election.   (Left) Document #1 California Form 460, Schedule B, Part 1, Loans Recieved.    Cindy Yen Chen loan her campaign for Cerritos City Council $30,000 over the past three months.  The source of the loan is listed from her position as "President of Zen Continential, co, Inc."

(Above Right): On July 20th, 2004, Cindy Yen Chen and Zen was fined $79,000 by the "Federal Maritime Commission" for transporting "toxic" materials via international seaways.
Document 2: (Above) California Form 700 from the Fair Political Practices Commission-Statement of Economic Interest from Cerritos City Council Candidate Cindy Yen Chen.  Mrs. Chen, who is the President of Zen Continental co, Inc. does not list "ANY REPORTABLE INVESTMENTS on Schedule A-1, A-2, and lists "No Real Property on Schedule B;"  "No Income, Loans, Business Positions."
Why are we allowing ANY APPOINTED OFFICIAL, in this case, a Member of the Cerritos Planning Commission, and/or a candidate for Cerritos City Council to hide the truth about their sources of personal income and  interests in business  dealings?  We need accountablity.

Campaign Mailing Reveals Federal Toxic Waste Fines against Cerritos City Council "Green" Candidate Cindy Yen Chen

CINDY YEN CHEN'S TOXIC SKELETON: Self proclaimed "Green Goddess," Cerritos City Council candidate Cindy Yen Chen has been exposed as a TOXIC WASTE SHIPPER in a mailing recieved today by Cerritos voters.
Cerritos Voters received a copy of the Federal Maritime Commission 2004 Settlement with Chen's Paramount Freight Forwarding Company Zen Continental Company, Inc.
The incident involved a toxic shipboard fire due to the inappropriate handling of toxic chemicals.  Mrs. Yen Chen's company settled part of the Claims by agreeing to pay $79,000.00 in fines.
My question is simple:
Why has she misled Cerritos Voters in her current campaign to be elected to the Cerritos City Council by declaring herself as the "Environmentally Green Candidate?"
Could her zealous environmental platform in fact be just a
TOXIC SMOKESCREEN?

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez leads "Welcoming" crew for President Obama at Joint Congressional Session!

I always love to see when a President of the United States addresses Congress on vital issues. Tonight was no exception.

I also love seeing how California Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez manages to get a "prime aisle" seat whenever a President addresses our country.

Tonight 'Retta rocked the "Congressional Center Isle" and welcomed our new Commander in Chief into the "People's Congress" with a huge hug and a kiss!

After a bumpy Confirmation Hearing, Hilda Solis gets her Labor Secretary approval. Will a Cerritos native replace her in Congress?

My pal Congresswoman Hilda Solis is now Secretary Solis!

The Senate has confirmed California congresswoman Hilda Solis, a native of La Puente, as President Barack Obama's labor secretary.

The 80-17 vote comes after more than a month of delays.

I wish you well Hilda.  Now the fun begins to replace her in an upcoming Special Election for Congress.

Look for a Cerritos native to take on Senator Gil Cedillo to replace Solis in that upcoming early Summer campaign.  Who is that Cerritos native?  Stay tuned, I will fill you in later this week.

$125,000 in CAMPAIGN CASH: Jim Edwards, Carol Chen, Cindy Yen Chen dig deep into their own pockets to fund campaigns. Reforms are needed!

It is time to have Campaign Reform here in Cerritos.

Three of the candidates seeking election to the Cerritos City Council have already loaned their campaigns $125,000.00 thus far.
Cerritos Mayor Jim Edwards, a retired teacher in the ABC Unified School District has loaned his City Council Campaign a total of $54,000.00 as of February 14, 2009.

Incumbent Councilwoman Carol Chen has given her campaign $34,500.00 in "loans" and challenger Cindy Yen Chen has bankrolled her campaign $30,000.00 according to documents filed late last week at Cerritos City Hall. Why do we tolerate this type of "campaign financing" to be allowed here in Cerritos?
It's time for campaign reform here in Cerritos. We also need to have access to these campaign reports on the Internet on the City of Cerritos Website.

Be informed about this election, before you cast your ballot. It is time for campaign reform here in Cerritos, once and for all.

Let Freedom Ring.

Feel Good Song of the Day: Way Back Into Love from "Music and Lyrics"

I watched "Music and Lyrics" on Verizon Channel 406 last night and literally fell in love with the title song: "Way Back Into Love."

The movie is about hope and comebacks, and love, and not giving up on your dreams.

The flick stars Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. Check out my Clip of the Day and tell someone who might be "down in the dumps" to watch it with you!

"Music and Lyrics" has something for everyone. The chemistry between Grant and Barrymore is amazing, and both seem to be having fun in this entire movie.

I am a HUGE Drew Barrymore fan.

I "hung out" with her for a night at the House of Blues in West Hollywood while she filmed her MTV Film Documentary on Howard Dean's campaign for President in 2004. I also had fun with her at a "Meet UP" for Dean during that campaign. What a great, smart, talented woman!

This movie needs to be on your DVD rental list! It is my Hot Pick! Watch the Vid and send it to your pals!

HOT CANDIDATE: Meet ROBERT GARCIA...for Long Beach City Council!

I want everyone to pay attention. We have a great candidate running for public office in Long Beach, California. Robert Garcia is button down, hard working, and someone who can help meet the many challenges that face Long Beach, California. The winner of this election in March will replace former Long Beach City Councilwoman Bonnie Lowenthal who is now a Member of the California State Assembly. Lowenthal is backing her longtime boyfriend Evan Anderson Braude a former Councilman for her vacant Downtown LB Council seat.
For more information on Robert's grassroots "Green" campaign, visit his website at http://www.robertgarcia.com/.

Turning 49: It is hard for me to comprehend this whole "getting older" thing.

They say your as old as you feel.  I don't feel like I am going to be 49 this coming Friday.  When I was young, people who were 49 were well...old.

I need to "process" this weeks semi-milestone birthday.

The first thing to hit me this week, is that I am ACTUALLY older than the current President of the United States.  How can that be? I am celebrating this weekend at Roscoe's in Long Beach. Soul Food.  Good food for my aging soul. Appropriate and tasty. Anyway, I am alive and thriving here in America. I look at the glass half full, and cannot wait to celebrate birthday number 50 in 2010.  Keep me in your Prayers and Good Thoughts this week. "Sing it, Marilyn, and Stevie Wonder!!!"

PRESTO! We have GONE REALLY GREEN! Instant Paradise! Our new yard looks INCREDIBLE!

(Back Yard today; Below Back Yard 8 months ago right after our fire).

Wow.
Even I am IMPRESSED with how amazing the front and back yard of our house looks.

When we had our house fire back on June 20, 2008, we had to replace both of the FRONT and BACK yard. My late father Dick Economy loved his yard. Today, I am sure he is totally in awe of how wonderful the house looks. The project to replant over 40 years of grass, ferns, shrubs, sprinklers, trees and plants has taken us the last 6 weeks. This weekend we dodged the rain, and have completed our yard transformation into a tropical paradise.

Incredible. Get over to our house and see the NEWEST and GREENEST yard here in Cerritos. Thanks to the amazing crew who helped us from Robert's Construction.
We only had to make 50 trips to Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, Target, and many other local businesses to pull this off. We "Shopped Cerritos," the Economy's helped support the Cerritos Economy these past 8 months.

OMG. Hey, is it too late to apply for the Cerritos City Wide Pride Award? Where is that darn application? Oh, here it is. LOL. (click here if you have a neighbor who deserves to be considered for a Cerritos City Wide Pride Award).

Our Back Yard right after the fire.
