So I get a real kick out of everybody who is complaining about Betsy DeVos being the new secretary of education.
Let's go back in history to the mid-1980s and what happened during the Reagan administration
In his first press conference as secretary in 1985, new Department of Education Secretary Bill Bennett set the tone for his administration of the department by calling college students "beach bums" who "ought to give up their stereos to pay tuition instead of expecting government aid."
Later, Bennett called some universities "rip-offs" that "graduate almost any warm body" and referred to the Chicago school system as "the blob." (Thanks LA Times for the quick reminder about what took place 30 years ago).
I think we all need to give Betsy DeVos a chance...
what the heck ...
the sky was falling back in the 70s and 80s and I think we all turned out pretty amazing....
