I got a kick out of the California Republican Party sending out an official press statement just moments ago urging lunatic Democratic Party Assemblyman Roger Hernandez to resign his seat in the legislature.  I have been on Hernandez for a long time, but this move by the California GOP is just plain laughable.  Hernandez is running for Congress next week against his old boss, Rep. Grace Napolitano.  Hernandez must be close to out polling Napolitano or getting into the run off against her in November. Funny to think that the CA GOP has waited to the 11th hour to make a political play like this one.  Ain't gonna happen.  Roger Hernandez marches to his own drummer.  No one tells Hernandez what to do, especially if you are a Republican.  Here is the statement....

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Today, California Republicans are calling on Roger Hernandez to step down from his role as the Assemblyman from California’s 48th District and withdraw his name as a candidate for California’s 32nd Congressional District given the accusations of prolonged domestic abuse.
“Roger Hernandez should remove himself from office. Hernandez has an obligation to the people of California to represent them equally, and the repeated, serious allegations of abuse that surround him are in no way conducive to his role in representing California in the State Legislature,” said California Republican Party Vice Chair Harmeet K. Dhillon. “Domestic violence is a very serious issue in our society, not a “private matter” to be brushed under the rug by a man holding public office.”
“Given the serious and growing list of accusations, Assemblyman Hernandez’s continued presence in the State Assembly brings dishonor to the entire California State Legislature,” said Senator Patricia Bates.
“As a member of the California Congressional Delegation, I urge Assemblyman Hernandez to step down from his position and withdraw his name as a candidate for California’s 32nd Congressional District in light of the current accusations of serial abuse,” said Congresswoman Mimi Walters.

Democrats should echo the demand that Hernandez remove himself from office. Step down Assemblyman Hernandez – California deserves an Assemblyman that they can look up to.
