Whitney High School's mission is to prepare students for entrance to and success at their best match colleges or universities and we are extremely successful in achieving this purpose. College summary data for the recently graduated Class of 2009 indicates that: 13% of Seniors selected California private colleges, 23% opted for private colleges out of state, 38% enrolled in the University of California schools, 14% chose California State Universities, 9 % now attend Community Colleges and 2% qualified for Military Academies.
To support each Senior class member in their college acceptance decisions, the Whitney High School Guidance Team helped them earn over $8 million in scholarships.
Gretchen Whitney is a former President and Member of the ABC School Board, as well as a Past Mayor and City Councilwoman in the City of Artesia. She is seen here with ABC School Board Members Mark Pulido and Shopia Tse at a recent community reception. Mrs. Whitney, into her 90's now, still lives here in the Artesia community and visits the campus as often as she can. She must be very proud of her students this wonderful night of celebration!
