Score ANOTHER VICTORY for District Attorney Steve Cooley and Max Huntsman for this CONVICTION and JAIL SENTENCE today.  Attention pubic officials.  Stop breaking the law.  Stop stuffing your pockets.  You will be CAUGHT SOONER OR LATER....

LOS ANGELES – The former superintendent of the Beverly Hills Unified School District was sentenced today to 60 days in jail and ordered to pay nearly $23,500 in restitution to the Beverly Hills School District for giving a female former facilities director unauthorized gifts, the District Attorney’s office announced. Judge Stephen Marcus said Jeffrey Hubbard violated a position of public trust and ordered him to complete 280 hours of community service and to pay a $6,000 fine in addition to jail time and restitution.

Hubbard, 55, was taken into immediate custody. Deputy District Attorney Max Huntsman (W2G, MAX!) with the Public Integrity Division prosecuted the case. A jury in January found Hubbard guilty of two counts of misappropriation of public funds for ordering former facilities director Karen Anne Christiansen to be paid $20,000 in two payments, a stipend that was never authorized by the board. Hubbard also was found guilty of having Christiansen’s $150-a-month car allowance increased to $500 a month without board approval.

Judge Marcus said that email exchanges between Hubbard and Christiansen showed the two had a “very, very special relationship” and he gave her the money because he “liked her, he loved her.” Christiansen, 53, was sentenced on Jan. 5 to four years, four months in state prison and tentatively ordered to pay the district just over $2 million after being convicted of negotiating contracts between the school district and a firm with which her company had a consulting agreement, and for backing a school bond measure that benefited her firm.

LOS ANGELES –

Well, the name "LOUIE LUJAN" will never appear on a ballot in California.

Former La Puente Mayor Louie Lujan , who pleaded guilty last month to a count of perjury, was barred today from holding elected office for the rest of his life.

He is be given what amounts to a "political death penalty" for his bad deeds.  He is the run away winner of my "Political Crook of The Month!" Indicted Temple City Councilwoman Judy Wong came in a close second for the newly created "dishonor."


So here is the scoop on ol' Louie.....
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Horwitz sentenced Lujan, 33, to three years of probation and imposed a $1,000 fine today.

Lujan pleaded guilty on Feb. 25 to one felony count of perjury by declaration stemming from a false campaign report he filed last year. Under the terms of the plea, Lujan resigned his city post on Feb. 24.
His conviction prevents him from ever holding elective office in California. Deputy District Attorney Max Huntsman of the Public Integrity Division prosecuted the case. 

Thanks, Max.  You did it again!  Now, when is the shoe going to fall in Pico Rivera again...?  HUMMMM? Stay tuned.  This is gettin...good!

LOS ANGELES – La Puente Mayor Louie Lujan was arraigned and pleaded not guilty today to one count of perjury stemming from an allegedly false report he filed in February 2009 regarding campaign funds, the District Attorney’s Office announced.


Deputy District Attorney Max Huntsman of the Public Integrity Division said that in the event that Lujan, 33 (dob 6/06/76), is convicted the defendant would be removed from office. Lujan, who was first elected to the La Puente City Council in 2001, would also be barred from holding future elective office.

Deputy District Attorney Huntsman filed the felony complaint for arrest warrant on Feb. 16. The defendant is next due in court on Feb. 25.

Lujan allegedly received and spent dozens of campaign contributions in 2008 but failed to report the contributions and expenditures.

District Attorney Steve Cooley and his Public Intergrity Division is on a roll.  Today embattled La Puente Mayor Louie Lujan pleaded not guilty to one count of perjury stemming from an allegedly false report he filed in February 2009 regarding campaign funds.

Deputy District Attorney Max Huntsman of the Public Integrity Division said Lujan would be removed from office if convicted of the perjury count.

Lujan, who was first elected to the La Puente City Council in 2001, would also be barred from holding future elective office under California law.  He is due back in court on Feb. 25. Lujan allegedly received and spent dozens of campaign contributions in 2008 but failed to report the contributions and expenditures. He has previously denied wrongdoing and filed amended campaign reports.  Lujan was looking at running for State Assembly, but those plans look to be on hold.

Recently Cooley has brought criminal charges against lots of corrupt local elected officials including ex-Pico Rivera Mayor Ronald Beilke, Temple City Councilwoman Judy Wong, ex-Inglewood Mayor Roosevelt Dorn, Vernon Mayor Leonis Malburg.  He has also opened a criminal investigation against Pico Rivera City Councilman Robert Archuletta for under reporting gifts.

So, corrupt politicians beware. Steve Cooley is on a roll!

LOS ANGELES – What is up with these local "powerhouse" Mayors who are getting popped on corruption charges this week?

The LA County District Attorney's Public Integrity Division bagged another aged "political" bad boy when former Inglewood Mayor Roosevelt Franklin Dorn, 74, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of conflict of interest.


Los Angeles Superior Court Judge George Lomeli immediately sentenced Dorn to two years probation and ordered him to pay a $1,000 fine. Dorn, who resigned last night as mayor of Inglewood, is precluded for the rest of his life from holding public office as a result of the conviction.

Dorn was charged in June 2008 in connection with a low-interest loan he obtained through the City of Inglewood in 2004. Prosecutors said Dorn had a law modified in order to become eligible for a city residence incentive program that offered low-interest housing to executive non-elected municipal employees. The change in the law extended the program to elected officials.

Dorn went on to obtain a $500,000 loan through the program in November 2004. It was alleged that some of the funds were used to pay off his residence in Inglewood and the rest went into his bank account.  Gee, sounds like a great loan, if you can swing it.

Deputy District Attorneys Juliet Schmidt and Max Huntsman of the Public Integrity Division prosecuted the case.  I love Juliet and Max!  These two are amazing, and really care about the public's BEST interest!  I think I need to start a "Facebook Fan" page for Max and Juliet!

Last week, the man who served as Vernon’s mayor for more than a half-century, Leonis Malberg, age 80,  and his wife, Dominica, age 83, were sentenced to probation and ordered to pay more than $600,000 in fines and penalties following their conviction for voter fraud and other corruption charges.


So, if your a local city councilman or mayor and wants to break laws by stuffing  public money in your pants, just remember, Max Huntsman, Juliet Schmidt and Steve Cooley just might show up at your front door with a real "posse!"
