A girls’ varsity volleyball coach at Burbank High School was arraigned today on charges related to an alleged sexual relationship with one of his students, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Deputy District Attorney Linda Kwon said Kyle Patrick Roach (dob 3/20/87) of Glendale faces one felony count of oral copulation of a person under 18 and two misdemeanor counts of child molesting or annoyance.
Roach pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled to return on Aug. 25 in Department 1 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Burbank Branch. Case GA096661 was filed on July 10.
The defendant is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship which began in 2010, when the victim was 17 years old, the prosecutor said. Roach also is accused of anonymously sending sexually explicit text messages to two of his students between February and June 2015, the prosecutor added.
If convicted as charged, Roach faces a possible maximum sentence of five years in state prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Burbank Police Department.
