I wanted to share TWO official statements today from BOTH the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Southern California Edison on the shooting rampage that took place this past week in Irwindale. First the statement from the LACSD, and below from SC Edison.
"Homicide investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department continue to work with Irwindale Police Department personnel, Southern California Edison and other people to investigate the tragic shooting Friday, Dec. 16, in Irwindale. Sheriff's Homicide detectives are conducting an investigation into the shooting that was reported to the Irwindale Police Department at 1:34PM, at the Southern California Edison complex on the 4900 block of Rivergrade Road, Irwindale. Irwindale Police officers responded to the scene and requested mutual aid of neighboring police agencies. Numerous officers from several agencies responded and assisted the people on scene. Sheriff's Homicide investigators have learned that in the immediate aftermath of reports of shots fired Friday at the Irwindale Southern California Edison complex, the identity of the shooter could not be confirmed for certain by responding peace officers. Therefore, for the safety of the employees and community, the Edison office complex and nearby schools were locked down as the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) - Special Weapons and Tactics team searched the large complex, room by room for over four hours. It was later confirmed that the homicide suspect had com

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased persons. The shooter has been identified as 48-year old Andre Turner of Norco. His death was ruled a suicide. The two people killed were identified as 56-year old Henry Serrano of Walnut, and 53-year old Robert Lindsay of Chino.
Sheriff's Homicide detectives learned that five people were shot at the location. Homicide Suspect Turner died at the scene by his own hand. Victim Lindsay died at the scene. The other three shooting victims were transported to a local hospital. Victim Serrano died at the hospital. The remaining two victims were wounded by gunfire and treated at the hospital. The weapon that was used was a semi-automatic handgun. The shooter and all of the victims are employees of Southern California Edison and work in the same general area of the building.
"All four victims in this tragedy worked in some type of supervisory role at Southern California Edison," said Sheriff's Homicide Lieutenant Holly Francisco. "We are still looking into exactly what type of supervisory role each may have had with the suspect."
"Suspect Turner had arrived at his normal reporting time that morning and worked his normal shift. He gave no indication of what was going to occur later that day," said Lieutenant Francisco.
"Most employees did not know that a shooting was happening. Some people who heard the gunshots didn't associate the sound with gunfire, especially because of the work environment they were in. In between shooting different co-workers, the suspect calmly walked past several co-workers and had brief and calm conversations with them," said Lieutenant Francisco.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims families in this tragic incident," said Irwindale Chief of Police Dennis Smith. "The Irwindale Police Department thanks the members of the law enforcement community who responded in support of this incident. We ask our community to be patient as we work w
