The community in and around Norwalk High School is still in a state of shock, some two days after a brutal stabbing killed one of their own students, and left another injured with wounds to his back. Even as residents and community leaders gathered by the thousands to attend the 28th Annual Arturo Sanchez Halloween Parade, many in the crowd were talking about the brutal scene that has taken so much from the "heart and soul" and that has claimed the life of a boy who was just beginning is life.

This map shows the incorporated areas in Los A...Image via Wikipedia Members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau continue to investigate the fatal stabbing of one 15-year-old male juvenile and a second 16-year-old male juvenile who was wounded. It occurred on Friday, October 21, 2011, at the 14000 block of Harvest Avenue, Norwalk.

Detectives have learned that at 3:15 PM the two juveniles were walking south on Harvest Avenue when a compact vehicle with two male Hispanic juveniles drove up alongside them. The passenger got out of the vehicle, confronted the victims then stabbed them both several times. The suspect then got back into the vehicle and the driver sped away.

Los Cerritos Community News has been given the name of the deceased victim, but due to the fact that he is a minor, LCCN will wait to publish his name until authorities officially release the information.

LCCN has been told by those at the scene that an alleged fight started on the Norwalk High School campus, and was broke up by security on Thursday. As both boys left the popular campus at around 3:10 p.m., and were in the process of walking home, south on Harvest Avenue, a car approached, one or more jumped out & stabbed both boys.

LCCN has been told that the victim who died was stabbed several times in the upper body, he was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The second victim who received several stab wounds in the upper body was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.

During their investigation Homicide detectives identified and located the 16-year-old male suspect. He was arrested, for Murder, and is being held at a Los Angeles County Juvenile Detention facility. Detectives are still looking for the second suspect, who is described only as a male Hispanic juvenile. The car is described as a compact. The names of the victims and suspects will not be released as they are all juveniles.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the second suspect or this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau, 323-890-5500. If you prefer to provide information ANONYMOUSLY, you may call "Crime Stoppers" by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org.

Randy - Check your facts.

IT was FRIDAY not TH
URSDAY that the Norwalk High School Murder took place. The campus has been out of control for six years.

VIP's (retired teachers from the original ten years of the school) had returned to visit. They had no clue about the violence.

Thanks for the note. I will change the post to reflect FRIDAY....NOT THURSDAY.

Dear Readers,

I live two blocks from the location of this heinous act. I have been a resident for ten years and have volunteered as a football coach four of those years. Because of my close contact with the school system and it's youth I feel safe in stating that the situation is far more serious and advanced than you may know or are led to believe. The roots of this violence stem to the middle school system where all victims involved have a prior history of aggressive and territorial behavior. One middle school in particular, Corvallis Middle School, has seen both a rise in violence and a decline in preventative measures to avoid such acts. The fact that these acts have spilled over to the high school and streets should not come as a surprise for they are a byproduct of the natural progression of situations or problems that go genuinely unattended and cared for. If one day you are leaving for work and notice your tire is low but do nothing, then is it a surprise to you if on the way to your job you get a blow out? This incident is a microcosm of the caldron of violence that is brewing rampantly in and around the community of Norwalk, Ca. It is only a matter of time before it boils over and begins to claim innocent victims or bystanders. I hope someone with a sense of civic pride or leadership reads this and addresses or better yet, pressures the local leadership and school board to at the very least acknowledge that there is a problem and employ action rather than talk or political red tape.
