BREAKING NEWS: Vehicles collide in Lancaster, strike bicyclists

Chrysler PT Cruiser silver fImage via WikipediaA group ride organized by a Lancaster bicycle shop was tragically interrupted when a minivan collided into two cyclists, both residents of Valencia, while they were crossing an intersection.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Avenue L and 4th Street West, Lancaster, to investigate the collision which sent husband and wife cyclists to the hospital.

The collision happened when a group of approximately twenty cyclists was crossing the intersection together. The driver of the minivan was also crossing the intersection when she was hit by a driver of a PT Cruiser. The collision forced the minivan into the path of two of the cyclists, causing serious injuries to both of them.

Even though all riders were wearing helmets, the collision left the husband suffering head trauma. He is currently listed in critical condition at a local hospital. The female cyclist suffered moderate injuries and is listed in stable condition.

The cause of this collision is still under investigation.
