Compton Superior Court Judge John J. Cheroski also ordered Jonas Vital Silverio, 41, to register as a sex offender on his release from prison, Deputy District Attorney Stephanie Chavez said.
Silverio, who was a former Lynwood High School teacher and coach prior to going to Firebaugh, pleaded no contest last June to 10 counts of lewd act on a child 14 or 15. Three of the four girls played on various volleyball teams he coached. The molestations occurred between 1996 to 2007, Chavez said. Silverio resigned as Firebaugh principal just prior to leaving for the Philippines in May 2009. He was arrested at LAX when he returned in July that same year. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau investigated the case.
