Silvestre Layug Ela, 53, a teacher at Dominiguez Elementary School in Carson (in the Los Angeles Unified School District) has been charged with posting child pornography on a social networking site.
He was charged today.
Deputy District Attorney Marc Beaart of the High Tech Crimes Division said Ela, is charged with one count each of possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.
Ela is expected to be arraigned tomorrow in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. He is charged in case No. BA378817. Ela of Carson has worked as an elementary school teacher for the last 15 years, the prosecutor said. His current assignment is teaching fifth grade at Dominguez Elementary School.
If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a maximum state prison term of three years, eight months.

my sister and me attended dominguez elementary but never suspected he was like that since weir now in highschool we found out by the news my sister was a past student of his .!
but said she suspected nothing of him, we weir real susrprised when we saw his face on the news :(
but he deserves to be put in jail,when you lease excpect it !.

My brother was his student for 4th and 5th grade and Mr. Ela was his mentore for bOUt 5yrs Mr. Ela took my brother on vacations aND CAMPING many times we didnt have a father growing up so Mr. Ela took my brother under his wing!! I am a lil worried!!!!
I do not believe a word of this. Mr. Silvestre Layug Ela has a strong moral Christian character. I had been a previous male student. This must be a setup from the guys in the hood of Carson, California. I will keep Mr. Ela in my prayers today in Sunday mass.
Past Student Here, I'm actually looking for an update on this case, The man was big in the religious department and he isn't catholic (bad taste bla bla bla) From what I understand, he did have Child porn, but no one called in as an actual victim. What a man does in the privacy of his own home is none of our business. If someone watches a horror movie and a person is killed, the viewer wouldn't go on a murderous rampage. This is just another media hype that ruined one mans life. People are wishing punishment on a man that they fondly remembered based off something they never knew. This is the cesspool that is the human psyche remember someone as a great friend, but they second they are discovered to be flawed, they deserve to be stoned. A man that sins proves that he is only human.
I too was trying to find out what happened to this case , I can't seem to find anything new posted for after his February court date.
I "thought" I knew this man for the last 15 years as a respected work colleague, you can imagine the utter shock when he was arrested and just vanished overnight. I genuinely liked the man. He was a private and religious man that a few wondered about from time to time, but mainly because of his bachelor status and just plain nosiness amongst the staff. After all, he wasn't the only never-been-married person at this site.
I won't reveal here what a few of us speculated in hindsight, but it's kind of hard not to ignore the in-your-face fact that he admitted downloading THOUSANDS of images. here's I quote I found, "After Wednesday’s court appearance, Marc Beaart, from the District Attorney Special Technologies in Crime Unit explained: “We have pictures and videos. Most of them were involving children from 8 to about 14 years of age. Approximately a third involves forcible images.”
In my mind, that doesn't sound like a case of mild curiosity, nor do I think this man was ignorant of the law in this instance.
Sex addiction is powerful. In this case, it won.
Past student here. I neeever suspected this from Mr. Ela. He was a nice teacher & helped his students alot. He was a very religious man. I do not believe he is guilty for this! It has to be a setup.
