Hollywood is abuzz this afternoon with the latest revelations in the murder of Beverly Hills public relations maven Ronni Sue Chasen.

Here is the latest:

Beverly Hills police now say that Harold Smith, the man who killed himself Wednesday evening at that seedy Harvey Apartment Building on Santa Monica Boulevard may "not" be involved in the case whatsoever.  Several newspapers are reporting the new details this afternoon, including the LA Times.

Smith, a lifelong criminal pulled a pistol from his pocket and shot himself in the head as detectives attempted to serve a search warrant.

Now, it appears that Smith may have been "turned-in" to a tip line on America's Most Wanted by one of his neighbors who live inside the Harvey.

Police are also saying that the bullet that killed Smith did not match the bullets or the gun used in the murder of Chasen.

AMW posted this on their website today:

After airing the story on Nov. 20, several tips came into our Hot line and as is always the case, AMW passed these tips along to law enforcement. Beverly Hills police acted quickly one of the tips early on the evening of Dec. 1, 2010. Police confirmed that undercover officers attempted to contact a person of interest when he pulled out a gun and killed himself in a Hollywood apartment building.

My opine:

Sounds like John Walsh and his famous "Tip Line" might have gotten it wrong this time.  Was this a "rush to judgement?"  Do you think a "media" blackout should be instated in this case?  Who do you think the "real" killer is?

What do you think?  Tell me your opinion. Hit my comment section.

That Harold Smith "lead" looks like it was a total "bust." Fist of all, if your going to do a "professional" hit on someone, you need to get your $$$$ upfront, and you would normally have a plane waiting to get you the hell out of town as soon as your "job" is done. Give me a break.

John Walsh got it WRONG said...

Listen, John Walsh got it "wrong" this time. The bullets didn't match.

I say the killer is long long gone. Far far away.

Whatever happened to the "theory" that the killer was driving a "large" SUV? Remember that one?

This Harold Smith looks like he didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of...unless he had a "driver."

This story is going to take a zillion twists and turns...

We may never find out the truth.

We cannot play guessing games on this crime in the media.

Many of Ronni's true friends are getting really angry at the media who are all trying to be a part of this story... Let the professionals do there work. John Walsh and others should "butt out" of this crime.

Why do we "celebrate" and "idolize" people like John Walsh.
