EL MONTE – Hector Urias, 48, a well know and popular civic leader in the El Monte community was found shot to death earlier today in his auto repair shop.
Details are still emerging about the crime, but this is what is being reported so far:
- El Monte Police officials arrived at Hector Urias Auto Repair at 3548 Santa Anita Ave. at approximately 6:30 a.m. and found Urias dead.
- There appeared to have been a struggle at the auto shop and police are investigating the death as a homicide.
- It appears that nothing was stolen from the location.
Urias, grew up in El Monte and lived in La Verne.
His popularity was a source of inspiration to those who knew him in the greater El Monte community.
Mr. Urias was a graduate from El Monte High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball.
He was also an avid golfer and took up auto racing. An investigation is underway. If you have ANY information about this crime, please contact the El Monte Police Department as soon as possible. More details as they happen.
