Orange County, CA
Chi Ngoc Bui, 55, has been identified as the man who was robbed and killed after a night of winning at the Hawaiian Gardens Casino early Friday morning, according to law enforcement officials in Orange County.
If you recall, Bui was at the local landmark casino and won more than $20,000 after a night of successful gaming and fun.
Bui, who was with a female friend, was then apparently followed when he left the casino, the 100 block of South Andres Place in Santa Ana where he was robbed, beaten and eventually run over by a car. The woman with him escaped major injury and has been interviewed by law enforcement.  Her name has not been released to the media or the public.
He died at the scene, and the robber(s) got away with a large portion of his winnings.  The killer(s) were driving a "small gray car with tinted windows."
The crime has stunned the community, and law enforcement is continuing their investigation.  (see my posting below for more details).
Bui worked at a local Orange County eatery and reportedly had missed work for the past couple of weeks. If you have any information about this crime, you are being urged to contact the Santa Ana Police Department Homicide Division at (714) 245-8390.
