Here is more on the life and career of Cal Baptist University Cheer Leading Coach Wendy Rice who was among those killed in that horrific accident last night on Highway 395 near Bishop, CA.

According to the Cal Baptist University website, Coach Wendy Rice was to be entering her second year as head coach of the award winning cheer leading squad.   Before coming to CBU, Rice had been the cheerleading director, head coach and choreographer at Corona del Mar (Calif.) High School.

While there, she led the squad to the COA West Coast Open Championship, the U.S. Spiritleaders National Championship, the UCA West coast Championship, a second place finish at the USA Nationals as well as many regional and state level titles.

From 2000-2002, she was the coach and choreographer at Centennial High School in Corona, Calif. Prior to that, she served as the head cheerleading and songleading coach and choreographer at Glendora (Calif.) High from 1992-2001, leading the squad to seven straight USA Nationals’ Finals as well as a COA West Coach Championship and a U.S. Spiritleaders National Championship.

Rice attended Azusa Pacific University from 1992-94 and is currently completing her bachelor’s in human development, expecting to graduate in Dec. 2008.

Rice and her husband, Jason, live in Corona. They have two children, Joseph (12) and Caitlyn (8).

My heart goes out to everyone at CBU today and to her beautiful family.
