Sean Patrick Patterson: 32 year-old Cypress man arrested for "assualt" and "elder abuse" against his 66 year old father

A violent elder abuse case has landed a local man behind bars and the victim was his 66-year old father.
Sean Patrick Patterson, 32 of Cypress, is due to appear in Orange County Superior Court on Tuesday on felony charges of "elder abuse."
Patterson was arrested on Saturday at 7:01 p.m. when Cypress Police Officers responded to a residence in the 10300 block of St. Alban, regarding a male subject who assaulted his 66 year-old father and barricaded himself inside the bathroom.  
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the 66 year-old victim severely battered and bleeding from his head.  
Orange County Fire Authority paramedics treated the victim and transported him to the Los Alamitos Medical Center as officers tried to negotiate the suspect’s surrender from the bathroom.  
Eventually, officers were able to talk the suspect, Patterson out of the bathroom where he ultimately surrendered without incident. He was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon (PC 245), Elder abuse – (PC 368(b)(1)), and assault and battery (PC 240 / 242).
The victim was admitted into the Los Alamitos Medical Center with moderate injuries and is expected to survive.  
The suspect was booked into the Cypress City Jail on the above charges and later transported to the Orange County Jail where he is being held on $50,000 bail.  He is expected to appear in Court at the West Justice Center on Tuesday.
