Long Beach City Hall is in a state of shock this morning after the news that David Wodynski, the manager of the city's Budget and Performance Management Bureau passed away this weekend.
Wodynski was only 40 years old. The cause of his death has not been determined.
City Manager Pat West told the LBPost.com that his death is a "A tremendous loss to the City of Long Beach."
GREAT CAREER
Wodynski was a rising star in Long Beach.
He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of San Diego in 1992 and joined the Peace Corps and served as a volunteer in Tunisia until 1994.
That experience led to his decision to join the International City/County Management Association's (ICMA) International Municipal Programs team, where he developed municipal programs for European nations like Bulgaria, Slovakia, Kazakhstan and more until 2000, according to info in today's LBPost.com.
After receiving his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, Wodynski became the Public Finance Advisor for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
He came to Long Beach as a Management Assistant in 2002 and became the Budget Management Officer in 2003. Another promotion followed in 2007 when Wodynski was named manager of the Budget and Performance Management Bureau.
Wodynski leaves a young child.

Los Cerritos Community Newspaper Publisher Brian Hews and Reporter Randy Economy were featured on KFI AM 640 on the Tim Conway Jr. Show on Thursday, October 17 to discuss the arrest of Los Angeles County Assessor John Noguez, Property Tax Agent Ramin Salari and Assessor Major Property Appraiser Mark McNeil on dozens of felony charges.
