CORONA, Calif. -- A brush fire has broken out in hilly area of Corona this afternoon.

So far, 35 acres have already burned and today's hot dry and windy conditions could make this blaze tough to fight.

The fire broke out at approximately 2 p.m. south of eastbound Highway 91 near Green River Road, burning in light fuels at a rapid rate.   I have lots of family and friends that live in this Green River Road community and we all know that this area is known as being a "fire area."

So far, more than 200 firefighters are on the scene including two air tankers and three helicopters that are already hitting the blaze with fire retardant and water.

No injuries were immediately reported, and no structures were being threatened.  It appears that the nearest homes are around 1/2 mile from where the fire is currently located.

Riverside County and Corona fire departments, as well as the Orange County Fire Authority, are working to contain the blaze.  17 to 20 mph winds are gusting in that area.
