LOS ANGELES – A 73-year-old man was charged today with capital murder in the March 26 slaying of Karine Hakobyan (seen below).

Alberd Tersargyan, (dob 7-7-36), was scheduled  to be arraigned after 1:30 p.m. at the Criminal Justice Center, Department 30, said Deputy District Attorney Eric Harmon with the Major Crimes Division.

Tersargyan was charged in case BA370472 with one count of murder with the special circumstance of lying in wait. He is being held without bail.

Tersargyan is suspected of fatally shooting the 38-year-old victim while she was in her car.

Hakobyan had just returned home about 8 p.m. and parked her car near her apartment on Lexington Avenue in Hollywood.

Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penaltyPolice say Tersargyan is being looked at as a possible suspect in the December 2008 shooting deaths of the woman's husband, 43-year-old Khachik Safaryan, and their 8-year-old daughter Lusine.

Their bodies were found in their home in the 1200 block of Tamarind Avenue by the couple's then-12-year-old daughter when she came home from school.
