7.8 Earthquake Slams off coast of NORTHERN SUMATRA, INDONESIA. Tsunami warning issued!

A another powerful earthquake has hit just a couple of minutes ago, this time off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia.  I have hundreds of regular readers from this area on a monthly basis, so I wanted to make sure that this information was posted in a timely matter.

Details are that the shaker was a magnitude 7.8 and occured at 22:15:02 UTC on Wednesday, April 07, 2010 or  05:15:02 AM local time in the island nation.

The first report is that the event was registered as a 7.7 shaker but it has been upgraded to a 7.8.

This is the same part of the world that was rocked by a killer earthquake and tsunami around 5 years ago that killed hundreds of thousands of natives and tourists.
