RAW VIDEO: Olympian Lugers Death cast dark 'shadow' on Winter Games. Will luge competition be called off?

DEATH OF AN OLYMPIAN!

Vancouver, British Columbia  -- The death of a luger Friday has cast a dark pall over the Olympics just hours before the caldron-lighting ceremony that would officially begin the Games.

"Our first thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of the athlete," said Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee. "The whole Olympic family is struck by this tragedy, which clearly casts a shadow over these Games."

Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21, of Georgia died after crashing and being propelled off the track during a training run, according to the IOC.

Above is a clip of the incident and press conference from CNN.  It is graphic, and sad.  Stay tuned, this entire luge competition could be cancelled.

HOLY CRAP! They should have redesigned this part of the track to not have these type of posts being exposed. This could have been avoided.

Great video. Glad you shared it.
