Murder of Bobby Salcedo: Wife of slain El Monte civic leader tells LA Times how a fun evening out with friends morphed into horror - latimes.com

BREAKING NEWS:
UPDATE ON MURDER OF AUGUSTIN BOBBY SALCEDO MURDER from LA TIMES.

I want to salute Los Angeles Times  Staff Reporter Tracy Wilkinson for an amazing inside look at the murder of local El Monte School Board Member Augustin Bobby Salcedo.  The article will be appearing  in Sunday's edition. I want to urge everyone to take a look at it. Investigators in Mexico reported Sunday night that no new developments in the Salcedo case. They are still looking into whether any of the people killed with Salcedo had criminal ties, but had found none.  More than 40 rounds were fired in the shooting according to Mexican officials.

The details of this murder are hard to read, but everyone needs to understand the violence and brutality that is destroying thousands of lives in Mexico, week end and week out.  If you are traveling to Mexico, you might want to "rethink" you plans. Funeral services are still being arranged.

Here is from the LA TIMES:

Wife of slain El Monte civic leader tells how a fun evening out with friends morphed into horror - latimes.com

"We were just going out with a group of friends," Betzy Salcedo said, speaking slowly and casting her eyes downward. "You are careful, you look around, but you never think this kind of thing can happen . . . to innocent people. We were having a good time. Then we were in the mouth of the wolf."

The Salcedos and their companions had ended up at the Iguanas Ranas bar on Miguel Aleman Boulevard in Gomez Palacio on Wednesday night.  By day and to the uninitiated, the strip may seem harmless enough. There are dives with names like Mens Club-Boomerang, but also taco stands and convenience stores. The Iguanas Ranas is painted almost whimsically with, as its name suggests, bright yellow and green frogs and iguana lizards.

Here is more about the location of the city where the murder took place in Mexico:

GOMEZ PALACIO: The "Hollywood" of Mexico...An Inside Look
Gómez Palacio is the second largest city in the state. Its growth has been based on the cultivation of cotton and wheat, making it a notable commercial and industrial center. Today the city has a great cosmopolitan feel. Its streets show the passage of history with its sober neo-classical style buildings mingled with its more modern structures.

Among its more notable attractions are the colossal statue of General Francisco Villa, located on La Pila Hill, the Chamber of the Young Heroes at the crossroads of Miguel Alemán and Victoria Ave., the Monument to the Teacher, the Monument to the Mother, (locatevd in front of Morelos Park), the Busto al Benemérito de las Américas, and the Francisco Zarco Chamber.  The architecture of the city is principally from the 20th century with structures like the Gómez Palacio Parish, constructed in 1900 by J. Agustín Castro.

The Museum of Modern Art, located in the Gómez Palacio Cultural Center, has a collection of foreign and national objects and paintings. The Xiximes Community Museum displays objects created by different ethnic groups that have inhabited this region.  Another outstanding tourist attraction in Gómez Palacio is the movie sets where many Hollywood films are produced, like the San Lázaro Sets. The Francisco Zarco Convention Center, the Alberto M. Alvarado Theater, and the Lagunero Rural Center are other great spots to visit.

More details to follow.

This is even worse that I could have imagined. We need to send in the TROOPS to STOP these TERRORISTS. I HOPE OBAMA is UNDERSTANDING THAT MEXICO is a TERROR THREAT.

"The saddest part is the family that has been destroyed by evil people. A man who wanted the best for children and to protect children was ruthlessly murdered. Probably those responsible will get away with it too.

"I once heard a wise priest once advise a church full of people that the best thing we could ever pray for on our enemies was God's great blessings. Why? Because in order to bless people, God has to prepare their souls to receive the depth of His Blessing. That can mean some pretty intense lessons! St. Maria Goretti knew that lesson well, and when she prayed for her killer, she refused to enter heaven until he had converted to Catholicism. That man was convicted of murder, went to prison, converted to Catholicism and was present when she was canonized a Saint. To the day he died, he felt blessed, even when in prison.

God takes the bad, and uses it towards the good. This can be one of those times."

I wouldn't go to Mexico...PERIOD. OBAMA needs to send the TROOPS to MEXICO to end these DRUG CARTELS once and for all. I feel sorry for Mr. Salcedo, he seems like an innocent victim of an evil force.
