D-Day in Bell Gardens: Recount puts Councilman Daniel Crespo in the Winners Circle by outpolling challenger Luis Arias by 6 VOTES!

Norwalk, CA:

December, 7th, 2009. A day that will live in INFAMY for the voters of Bell Gardens, California.

Today, Councilman Daniel Crespo beat challenger Luis Arias by 6 votes in an energy charged recount over at Dean Logan's "Den of Democracy" over at the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters Office in Norwalk.

Councilman Daniel Crespo is beaming with joy on the far left, and I am a blur in the haze that filled the room.  Below: Bell Gardens Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Rodriguez takes five with supporters and friends of Luis Arias).

Councilman Crespo, a Deputy Probation Officer for the County of Los Angeles and a longtime incumbent in Bell Gardens, stood a recount challenge from political wannabe Luis Arias.

On election day that was held on Tuesday, November 3rd, Arias led Crespo for the 3rd and final slot on the Bell Gardens City Council by several dozen votes. But, by the time all of the late votes were tallied, Crespo took a slight 5 vote lead over Arias and was declared the "unofficial" winner last week.
Arias, shelled out more than $7,000 to $10,000.00 to pay for the recount that was expected to last two days. But due to the great team of Deputy Registrars who oversaw the recount, they were able to get the job done in one long day.

A public documents request has been filed with the County Registrar of Voters Office to determine the true source of who paid for the recount, and as soon as that information is made public, it will be posted here on the Blog.
I am proud that Democracy WORKS and that it is STILL ALIVE here in Los Angeles County. I am proud that the public got to see first hand how this process is conducted. I was very disappointed that some of the elected incumbents at Bell Gardens City Hall who insisted that this process be conducted without cameras, or with a free media to attend today.  Shame on them.  They actually objected to having any cameras in the room today....can you believe that? Amazing....

Anyway, remember, the bane of our Society is based upon FREEDOM, and on this day in history, December 7th, 1941 our great America lost 2,402 men and women in the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Today's recount for Bell Gardens proves that elections still matter, and that the People are still in charge of the Ballot Box, not the politicians.

Let Freedom Ring!
