2010 Rose Parade Preview: Cerritos "Dreams" to wake up the world during upcoming Colorado Boulevard extravaganza. Volunteer "petal ushers" needed Dec. 26-31st to decorate float!

CERRITOS is Dreaming
Roses

Cerritos residents are invited to help decorate the City’s float for the 121st Annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.

Float decorating days will be held on December 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31.

If you have never been involved in this, do yourself a huge favor and do so.  The memory will last a lifetime.  I have help decorate the Cerritos Rose Parade Float almost every year and it is a total blast.

Participants should dress in warm layers of clothing and bring a pair of scissors. Decorating takes place in a warehouse and sandals are not allowed. Transportation to the warehouse, a meal and snacks will be provided.

This year’s float, entitled “City of Dreams,” features a large gondola with a gondolier serenading a couple. The gondola will be surrounded by “water” made of blue flowers. A large animated jester will be located at the back of the float, which will measure 35 feet long, 18 feet wide and 22 feet tall.

The theme of the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade is “2010: A Cut Above the Rest.” Captain Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger, III will preside as the grand marshal.

The 121st Rose Parade will take place on Friday, January 1, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. (PST) featuring spirited marching bands from throughout the nation, majestic floral floats, and high-stepping equestrian units. The Rose Parade will be broadcast on ABC, Hallmark Channel,  HGTV, KTLA (Tribune), NBC, RFD-TV, Travel Channel and Univision. The Parade is also seen in more than 200 international territories and countries.  More than 1 Billion people all over the world watch this annual event on television.
