PASADENA COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, AREA 1!

Pasadena College is currently experiencing financial trials that are challenging and disruptive to students, educators and administrative personnel alike. Strong leadership, compassion and flexibility—at a level not engaged in previously—is needed now to move beyond these challenges.

While the Board seeks to both secure the success of students and strengthen ties to the local community, the college finds it difficult to meet the current obligations of contracts and promised services. PCC’s 29,000 students have unique academic and logistical needs; teachers, administrators, and staff need to be supported; additional aid is needed for part time teaching staff who deserve more stable working conditions.

During this difficult era, the Board needs trustees who can make forward-looking decisions that reflect changing times, needs and attitudes. The choices made this year and the next will determine the direction Pasadena City College will be taking over the long term. My community organizing with Black, Hispanic, and Asian activists gives me the understanding to encourage change in the direction of PCC. I am confident that I have the knowledge, determination and insight to recognize the need for change and will diligently work to represent the interests of the students, staff and community in achieving it.

Meet Randy Economy

You may know me from my role as the Senior Advisor and Official Media Spokesman for the Recall Gavin Newsom campaign that established a worldwide blitz of interviews. I conducted more than 2,200 media interviews on behalf of “The People’s Recall” during a 10-month period from November 2020 to September 2021. I am also a small business owner, serving as the President and CEO of Hot Water Studio & Production, LLC. My company works with media outlets across the state, nation, and world exposing public corruption via several new media platforms. I have also overcome personal challenges. I am legally blind with zero vision in my right eye and only 40 percent vision remaining in my left eye. I sometimes wear an eyepatch due to my failed vision.
