Person killed in Downey Porsche SUV crash was Jesus Rovanni Ibarra, 20, of Van Nuys

DOWNEY — The man who died in a violent traffic crash in Downey early Wednesday morning, has been identified as 20-year old Jesus Rovanni Ibarra of Van Nuys.

The accident was reported at 12:49 a.m. Wednesday at Imperial Highway and Lakewood Boulevard, Downey police said. A vehicle crashed into a street light pole and sheared off a fire hydrant, according to authorities.

Police found Ibarra's body on the road, and the damaged Porsche sport utility vehicle nearby, and water gushing from the sheared hydrant

The driver of the crashed vehicle fled and he was later arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment. His name has not be released by local law enforcement officials.

Anyone with information about the crash was asked to call Downey police Det. Jeff Griffin at 562-904-2339 or Sgt. Dan Murray at 562-904-2342.
