"Strange" acting man at LA Fitness in Downey ends with his death by taser from local law enforcement. Victim was Albert Valencia, 31. Stay tuned.

Downey, CA: Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Detectives are  continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 31 year old male, Albert Valencia, which took place at the 10300 BLOCK OF BLUMONT DRIVE in South Gate earlier today.

Downey Police Officers were called the the LA FITNESS located at Firestone Boulevard and Ryerson Avenue at around 9 a.m. Friday morning.  Many of the gym goers reported that a male was "acting strangely" and threatening people inside the gym.

Officers arrived and witnesses pointed out the suspect Valencia as he was fleeing the parking lot in a car. They attempted to make contact with him, but he fled and a short pursuit ensured.  Law enforcement officials claim that Valencia brandished a knife at that time.

Next, it is being reported taht Valencia stopped his jeep at Almira Road and Blumont Road in South Gate and fled on foot into a rear yard where a physical altercation took place.

Law enforcement used a "taser" on Valencia in an effort to subdue him .  Shortly thereafter, he became unresponsive.  Officers on the scene performed CPR untill fire and paramedics arrived.  Valencia was taked to an area hospital where he died.
