Breaking News: Angry Mission Viejo voters tell Mayor to "Shut The Hell UP" and Recall him from office on Tuesday!

Mission Viejo: The voters here have tossed its Mayor out of office tonight.

Lance MacLean, who recently told a female city council member to "shut the hell up" in a closed session meeting, was shown the door tonight as voters removed him from office.

Here is the Mayor "caught" on tape in the now infamous Closed Session where he utters the quote that was the beginning of the end of his political career.

With mail-in ballots counted and all 38 precincts reporting, results from the Orange County Registrar of Voters show that 50.4 percent of voters – 6,858 residents – were in favor of recalling the embattled mayor, while 6,740 residents – 49.6 percent of voters – supported keeping the tart tounged mayor in office.

Mission Viejo has 61,924 registered voters, according to the registrar.

Businessman and former planning commissioner Dave Leckness won the right to replace Mac Lean on the City Council. Dale Tyler, the candidate supported by proponents of the recall, was behind Leckness with 4,919 votes.

Mac Lean said he was "at peace" with the fact that the voters gave him the boot tonight. Huh? Dude, you just got bounced out of office in a nasty, nasty campaign.

"It's actually a relief, and the relief is that I have an answer. I'm at peace because I have a supportive wife and my children," he said. "I can get on with living my life."

Proponents of the recall gathered at the home of Joe Zambito, on Lake Mission Viejo. The group toasted each other – hopeful their lead would hold. Gunsmoke played on TV and was an omen for MacLean’s impending demise, said Joe Holtzman, who said the program is his favorite show.

Tyler, who said he was disapointed he didn't win, said he was happy that MacLean was recalled. "It will be good for the city," he said. "I wish Dave luck on the council. We have a bunch of challenges. I hope he can make the city a better place."

So, this will go down as a classic case of a nasty politician being thrown under a bus in the name of "Democracy."

Shut the hell up, Mac, your outta here!
