"We are all grateful to the citizen who was concerned enough to call it in."Deputies from the Century Sheriff's Station Willowbrook Team received information that illegal and highly dangerous fireworks were being stored and sold from a home in a heavily populated residential neighborhood in Willowbrook in unincorporated South Los Angeles. Deputies obtained additional information and obtained a search warrant for the home on the 1600 block of East 124th Street, Willowbrook. On June 27, 2012, at about 5:40PM, Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies executed the

search warrant at the home. Deputies found a stunning amount of illegal and highly dangerous fireworks at the home, including approximately 150 boxes of illegal fireworks from the garage. Additional illegal fireworks were located in a storage shed located in the rear yard of the residence. The fireworks recovered consisted of skyrockets, morters, pyrotechnics, and explosives. Descriptions on the boxed included phrases such as "Warning, Shoots Flaming Balls," and included names such as "Eye Peeler," "Triple Break Magnum

Shells," Give Me Attitude," and "King of Pyro." Deputies also recovered guns including two revolvers, one semi-automatic handgun, one bolt action rifle, and approximately $10,000.00 in U.S. currency. One woman and four men, including the primary suspect, 71-year old resident Aaron Piggee, were detained. Sheriff's Arson / Explosives investigators were

immediately notified of the fireworks seizure, and the Los Angeles County Fire Marshal responded to the location in order to transport and dispose of the illegal and dangerous fireworks. The weight of the fireworks was estimated at about 8,000 pounds and a street value of over $20,000.00. "If a spark had ignited these 8,000 pounds of fireworks in this populated residential area, the damage to the community would have been devastating, and possibly deadly," said Captain Joe Gooden, LASD Century Sheriff's Station.

"We are all grateful to the citizen who was concerned enough to call it in." Suspect Piggee was arrested for several offenses including possession of an explosive device, selling fireworks without a proper permit, and possession of a loaded unregistered firearm. He was later transported to and booked at the LASD Century Regional Detention Facility.

The four other people who were detained at the house were later released after determining they had no criminal involvement.

ERTUG ERGUN: LASD Searchers Rescue Drowning Toddler While Searching for Turkish engineer in Angeles Forest

On June 29, 2012, multiple search teams with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, including search dogs and Sheriff's searchers on horseback were in the Stonyvale Picnic area for the ongoing search for Ertug Ergun. Ergun is an engineer from the country of Turkey who had been reported missing in Bakersfield, California last week. LASD deputies have been searching the picnic area and Angeles National Forest since finding his car in the area last week.

Aydin Topcu, Consul General of Turkey, had just met with rescuers Friday at 5:00PM at the Stonyvale Picnic Parking area of Big Tujunga Canyon to thank them for their ongoing search efforts. The search and rescue team members then set out again for the next stage of the search.

Within five minutes of leaving the picnic area command post, LASD Montrose Search and Rescue Reserve Commander Janet Henderson (an emergency room nurse) and Reserve Chief Michael Leum were walking in a river, searching for the missing man, when they noticed a family playing in the water about 50 yards upriver.

Henderson was stunned to see that a toddler was laying face-down in the water near the family, and quickly yelled, "somebody better get that baby!"

Reserve Deputies Henderson and Leum started running upstream as they saw the mother grab the lifeless 18-month old girl from the water.

As soon as the rescuers reached them, the mother handed Leum the baby girl. She was limp, her skin had turned blue, and she was not breathing.

Leum held the baby face-down on his forearm, just as he had been trained to do in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) classes. He cautiously delivered back-blows appropriate for a toddler, and she immediately coughed up a large amount of water. She began breathing, although with some difficulty.

Henderson, being an emergency room nurse, took over and evaluated the baby's condition based on her valuable training and experience. The mother, now relieved that her baby was breathing, thought that the child would now be fine. However, Henderson insisted that the baby be airlifted immediately airlifted due to the high likelihood of fluid remaining in the baby's lungs and other medical concerns, because of the intake of so much water.

Leum radioed the Sheriff's command post and notified them of the rescue and need for an immediate airlift.

Henderson and Leum hiked to the command post with the mom and baby, then drove with red lights and siren to a landing zone on Big Tujunga Canyon Road. Henderson administered oxygen and monitored the baby's vital signs constantly.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Copter 18 landed and firefighters and sheriff's deputies transported the child and mother to an area hospital for emergency medical treatment. By early Saturday morning, the baby had been released from the hospital and is reportedly healthy.

Due to the quick actions of the Montrose Search and Rescue Team members the child survived.

Having rescued the child, Montrose Search and Rescue Team Commander Henderson and Chief Leum then rejoined the other rescuers and redeployed on their mission in search of the missing Turkish man from Bakersfield. That search continues.

In discussion with the mother in the aftermath of this near-tragedy, deputies learned that the mother of the toddler, along with a three year old child, were being watched by another adult family member while they were all sitting by the side of the creek.

The three year old child became distracted and ran away from the adult family member who was watching both children. That family member ran after the three year old and left the toddler sitting creekside for just a moment. That is when the toddler wandered into the creek.

When the family member soon returned with the three year old, the mother was with the members of the Montrose Search and Rescue Team who had the lifeless toddler with them and were performing life saving measures which revived the toddler.

This search and rescue operation is being coordinated by the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Departtment. Assisting in Friday's search included members of the Montrose Search & Rescue Team (Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station), Sierra Madre Search & Rescue Team (Temple Sheriff's Station), Mounted Search & Rescue (horses) and K-9 (dogs) Search and Rescuers (Sheriff's Reserve Forces Bureau Headquarters), and U.S. Department of Forestry personnel

Santa Fe Springs sent into a "pot haze" after City Councilman Joe Serrano goes down in flames. Who is next?

Serrano being rushed into a closed door meeting in Santa Fe Springs on Thursday night.
Photos and Blog by Randy Economy

What a sad commentary on our community, once again by local city council members who think that they are entitled to be above the law.
Serrano exits Santa Fe Springs City Hall in a waiting automobile.

There is a pattern here. Wake up folks.

On Thursday, I got a tip that the Feds had been focusing on Santa Fe Springs City Hall (a more than one official, perhaps several officials) where "on the take" and giving "bribes" surrounding those pot shops that are popping up on street corners in every town these days.
The resignation......
Santa Fe Springs City Councilman Joseph Serrano, Sr. resigned from office Thursday night before a stunned and silent standing room only crowd.
In a tearful announcement during the city council meeting, Serrano said that he would be leaving office effective July 31st.
Serrano has agreed to plead guilty in connection to a major federal bribery case that involves the accepting thousands of dollars in cash bribes from the operator of a marijuana dispensary doing business in the tiny industrial community.
Los Cerritos Community Newspaper was the only media outlet to speak to Serrano immediately after resigning. “I am sorry for what happened. I am dealing with it. This is devastating for me and my family,” Serrano told LCCN.

Serrano confirmed that he found out about the indictment “sometime last week.”
Councilwoman Juanita Trujillo sits in stunned silence.
Last week?  Huh?  Serrano had been followed by "the Feds" for at least two years in a undercover operation that is just beginning to come to light.

Makes me so angry when this happens, especially around "here."
I have lots more to share.
Been on a roll lately when it comes to these type of "stories."

I am sure you heard about that crooked Los Angeles County Assessor who is on paid vacation right now because of the crap he caused....

By the way.... stay tuned....more bombshells coming out... What a busy, busy day that lies ahead, boys and girls...gee is it really 4:20 in the morning.  Strange that I would look at the clock....

Why do HUGE BREAKING NEWS stories involving CITY COUNCILMEN who get into bad behavior here in my part of the hood always get busted on THURSDAYS.
Thursday's is when we put the "Los Cerritos Community Newspaper" to bed, and today a HUGE bombshell erupted over at Santa Fe Springs City Hall....
Stunning news today that veteran Santa Fe Springs City Councilman Joseph Serrano has agreed to plead guilty in connection to a major federal bribery case that involves the accepting thousands of dollars in cash bribes from the operator of a marijuana dispensary doing business in the tiny industrial community.
Joe, say it ain't so....
Serrano was named Thursday in a federal bribery case that alleges he took thousands of dollars in cash bribes from the operator of a marijuana store who wanted to influence the city to allow his store to stay open.
I got on the phone and talk to the City Manager, and they are all in a state of shock over this massive case that will forever change the way people look at their elected officials in the "clean and pristine" Santa Fe Springs.
Joe....what were you thinkin, pal?

Los Cerritos Community Newspaper has published a new list of 49 different "big wigs" who work for the vacationing Assessor John Noguez to his past campaign committees.  Pretty amazing stuff.  Time for some real reform on who should be able to give "campaign donations" to elected officials INSIDE the Los Angeles County Hall of Administration....including members of the Board of Supervisors and Sheriff.
Scott Schenter made this list.  So did Kurt Gensicke, Milan Garcia, Mark McNeil (who is also on a paid "bad boy time out"), George Reinke, David Zorraster, yada yada, et al.
LA County Assessor Employees who double as donors to the "vacationing" John Noguez are seen holding their morning ritual before at the Los Angeles County  Hall of Administration up on the the 3rd Floor.
